There were Christmas booths along the Thames south bank so we wandered these; bought JB a cup of hot chocolate. Yum! Stopped at a bookstore, had lunch in a bistro, just wandered east along the bank. There is a grotto under a broadcasting building with pillars and steps and such that might or might not have been specifically constructed for skateboarders and bike-stunters. It isn't padded, they let graffiti go up (openly - Pat carefully watched how one guy did it (look out, Norfolk!)). There was an implication hanging here - clatter and spray and tumble and fracture all you want here, but leave the rest of the city alone. Seems to work. It had the air of the thrasher petting zoo. As it turned dark (such short days) we entered the Tate Modern - Pat really fell in love with the place. Some of the art was stunning. Some of it was quizzical head-tilting. Liked the comment scratched into the bathroom stall door - "IS THIS ART?"
But I'd seen an advert in the Tate Modern for the Tate Britain, something about... the Apocalypse! |
