Priced to move!

Was $2.99, now 99 cents!

Bargain prices!

These sound like things Mason Trellis might say in moving Egyptian Grain in Early ReTyrement. Well, in this case, life imitates art.

I’ve been thinking that a couple of bucks was probably too much for my eBook, especially two years (has it been this long?) since it was posted up on Kindle and Nook. I’ve heard of people who give their books away for free (to get following) or jack their prices around (to get ranking). I don’t know how to do this – I’m a writer (meaning I think Hemingway would have put that shotgun into his mouth years earlier if he had to deal with this shit).

But still, I’ve offloaded Early ReTyrement on friends and family and curious (or polite) coworkers. It’s been floating around out there, picking off an occasional sale but nothing much. It’s more than past time to cut the price down.

Felt a little like deja vu to go back into Kindle and Smashwords and figure out their pricing tools. I haven’t been in there for ages. But now it’s done. In a day or so, the prices should roll down to attract the curious passerby, the one who sniffs and figures “what the hell, it’s only a buck“.

So we’ll see how it goes.

Shoulda done this a while ago.

Shoulda done some sort of pricing strategy.

Shoulda played the rankings game better.

Oh well.
