Jude brings 223 into Calypso while just-arrived Steve ponders, dripping puddles on the floor (John DV)

hings went to shit at dinner. That’s when the rain started. I knew things were bad when emergency vehicles, a cruise liner and an ark went past on Colonial Drive.

At the club, people were literally dribbling in. I didn’t think we’d be able to staff the session. Some people reported doubled travel times. But enough people showed up and with some early job-shifting, we were able to cover early local jobs. Other’s sloshed in a little later and took the evening tick jobs.

I was dispatching with Zach again. The first time we’d put the gold team on the desk, well, I dunno what happened. I think we had a lot of newbies and guests, or maybe the entire crew was dicking with us. Who knows. This time, the railroad ran pretty solid. Crews knew what they were doing. People filled in as needed. Nobody had massive issues. Outside of the yard crews coming in to ask Zach questions about his new scheme and Horacio getting schooled on what Checkbox 9 is all about, it was a pretty easy job. For me on east side, Matthew pretty much ran the division from the tower. My warrants were nothing more than direct runs to the Red Rock division point. I think I only got one meet at Harris Glen (which is one meet too many, perhaps, but it went down fine). My only real problem of the night was Pete being a bit casual about shifting his butt out of Red Rock when trains from both divisions were inbound and we needed him shifted.

So yeah, good runs from everyone.

This is our “crack” express, our line’s prestige train, the Ohio Flyer. Kinda… dinky. (John DV) (And running 5 hours early, too).

Terry works the low-shelf, getting things done. Apparently the Shelfton job is always manned by press-ganged convicts and various dragooned reprobates. I did it recently… (John DV)

Looking over the sheets (Seniority to post up this weekend) I see that every freight (other then one of the fast ones) and every passenger train ran. We shifted the coal about and burned a furnace. So yay, team. ONT pulled this session off under conditions that made the Titan submersible implode. Really, it was an easy gig. Nothing personal, Zach, but you dispatch too well. It’s dull. I’ve got nothing to write about.

Afterwards, I was lounging around the office and that’s when the political “discussion” began. Hey, if we’re going to break the rules, I’d rather drink bourbon and pop off a handgun or something. As it was, I scurried on home. Of course, the next day while cooling at the dealership, I set up my computer to work on things and wondered by my mouse wouldn’t work. And why it was gray, not blue. And then I realized I’d pocketed the wrong one. Since I need it to do all my stuff, when another hour round trip to the club.

The things i do for you guys.

Coal on the move. (John DV)

Don’t forget, next ops for the club is Saturday, September 5th at 4pm. Should be fun.

And hopefully dry…
