ent over to the club on a quiet Saturday and met up with Pete and Jim P. They did whatever and I ran a quiet session of Tuscarora, solo.
I’d just started and realized I’d wished I’d brought my spare handheld throttle so that I could switch over to the other side to run the Drill move. As it stood (pun intended), every back up and drop move required me to climb out of my chair and fuss with my readers, trying to uncouple a car. This was shaping up to be a drag when the unthinkable happened – After dropping the caboose, I moved the next three cars to the Mainline bridge. Then I realized that the next three cars (behind the engine) when right onto the caboose, proper order. And then it dawned on me that the triplets I’d cut off and set aside now went in on the same order – so it was two triples, a pretty rare event (and much welcome).
Not much to say about the session – ran a newer model Jeep and it handled well. Kyle’s work a few months back to re-wheel and weigh my PFE car paid off – no problems at all with it. Outside of a handful of derailements, everything went smooth as silk. My only goof was the Easton Turn – I pull a car out of the scrap yard when I should have taken the covered hopper next door. Only realized it when 613 was built and ready for the run home. Just muttered under my breath and worked quickly to get the right car (kept whispering to myself, “Who’s going to know? Really?”). But did it anyway.
Outside of enjoyable and relaxing running, it was nice to hand around with the boys with the session finished up – Jim stalled in the helix and got to learn how to run helpers – did a smooth job at it. And Pete – well, Pete is Pete – I always get a smile.
Not every session is a high speed run against the odds and elements.
That will be tomorrow, on the WAZU. 🙂

From a session a month ago, but it’s nice to have a picture to highlight the session. (Luke L, again)
