his time, I’m letting the owner blog his own piece for his own layout. Really, it was a nice write-up and I didn’t have anything to go with (other than being the “bad cop” in the debrief when everyone was blowing sunshine up Doc’s ass). But I liked it, asked him, and he said I could quote him. So, here’s what Doc had to say.

Robert and half-a-wife run her train through it’s paces. Thanks to Doc for throwing her under the Alco by putting her on the road. (Dan L)
Next plan involves trackage and I’ve started work up in Spokane Staging to see if that can be improved along with a Deep, Deep Cleaning Effort. I can’t solve the “Shorting” problem, but I believe Chris S is right in pointing out that it’s been awhile for everyone operating on the WAZU plus everyone were assigned new jobs they weren’t familiar or experienced with.
We all witnessed Jane R out on the Big Runs without cover of hiding in the shadows of the Remote Room. “Girls Can Run Trains” She also accurately suggested most of the issues we saw might actually be caused by Robert. We agree. (I don’t (Website owner))
Speaking of the Remote Room, Matthew and John were excellent running that entire Division without any help. I just pointed them in a certain direction and they took off. Fantastic job !!
Zach explained a Key Solution to solving some issues by stressing people must leave ON-TIME when they’re supposed to leave and especially if you’re out running and O.S. at a destination. We must all be prepared to write down instructions and Leave when clearance is given. If you cannot leave, tell the Dispatcher…
Discussion on ATC rules includes a “Read Back” to ensure accurate communication, but also to Signal the the Conversation is OVER, thereby allowing people to chime in afterwards and avoid “Stepping On” conversations.
Mike had a First on the WAZU, no self inflicted injuries. And, he seemed to truly enjoy himself.
Dan was hard at work with the Walla Walla Local and two separate Manifest Trains, but also donated some Electrical Equipment for everyone to use if you need LocoNet engine addresses, etc.
Steadfast Jeff C held down the Fort up over at Pasco for us and things seemed to go Spot On. Thanks for being ‘Ol Reliable up there. Both Jeff and Bob had to deal with Locals returning to Yard late and I am hopeful that by ME scheduling crews differently will allow them to be on schedule. So, I will address schedule to FIX that issue.
Phil ( friend in Ancient Greek times ) lived up to his name and brought some enthusiasm to the party. He was thankful that the cameras don’t record his mistakes. (They actually do record, but your secrets are safe with me)

For once, the DS didn’t scream at me. I was working on one of the Hinkle AD tracks and rather than come down the other, Dan nosed in behind me. Zach gave you what-for on this. (Dan L)
Terry B was forced to focus on two jobs and managed to screw them both up… Just kidding. Again, as Zach pointed out, I have to FIX the scheduling problem to give operators the time to focus and reduce errors. So, that was my mistake and I’m sorry for ruining your time. You handled it very Diplomatically, so I guess that’s from being a Diplomat.
Robert pointed out what everyone else witnessed, The Throttle Zone Effect, and hopefully we addressed that after session. The shorting Issue ruins everybody’s fun so we have to pull together and sort that out. I cannot FIX the shorting problem… or maybe I can. I’m willing to do something, but not sure how to FIX the shorting problem. Someone pointed out “Cycling the Kato switches” before sessions. Good plan.
I had a good time and I hope everyone else did. Thank you Zach for all your feedback and for Dispatching, but also for showing me how to record this Debrief Session so I didn’t have to take notes and listen more intently to everyone’s input. Thanks Zach and to everyone else.

Great shot of the intermodal yard at Cheney. You can actually smell the salt of the sea. Or that might have been Bob’s socks (Chris S)
